Apple is set to introduce a standalone version of Siri at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, as reported by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This launch is viewed as a pivotal moment for the company to regain its position in the field of artificial intelligence. The new app, which will utilize Google Gemini, aims to offer users a chatbot experience akin to ChatGPT.
In a bid to differentiate itself, Apple plans to highlight its privacy-centered approach, claiming it will impose stricter limitations on the retention and use of user data compared to its competitors. Features may include automatic deletion of conversations after 30 days or one year, or the option for users to retain their data indefinitely. Gurman noted that this focus on privacy could serve as a rationale for any deficiencies in Siri's performance relative to other AI chatbots.
