Multiverse Computing has achieved a notable milestone, with its paper “Quantum Computing for Finance: Overview and Prospects” exceeding 1,000 academic citations since its release in 2019. This accomplishment places the company alongside well-known technology firms including IBM and D-Wave, focusing on quantum software rather than hardware.
Authored by Co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer Román Orús, along with colleagues Enrique Lizaso and Samuel Mugel, the paper laid out a framework for employing quantum techniques to tackle challenges in the finance sector. Following its publication, Multiverse Computing partnered with key financial institutions such as the Bank of Canada and BBVA, leading to the creation of its flagship technology, CompactifAI.
This algorithm significantly reduces costs and energy consumption for AI model compression by over 50%, showcasing the practical implications of quantum principles. Orús emphasized that the research has shifted from purely financial applications to developing solutions for large language models, illustrating the transformative potential of quantum-inspired methods in AI.
