The unveiling of a humanoid robot named Moya by the robotics firm DroidUp in Shanghai has garnered significant attention on social media in China. This robot is touted as the first fully biomimetic embodied intelligent robot, showcasing capabilities such as walking, maintaining eye contact, and exhibiting subtle facial expressions that closely mimic human interactions.
Moya stands at a height of 1.65 meters (5.5 feet) and weighs around 32 kilograms (70 pounds), closely resembling an adult human. Its design enables it to maintain a body temperature between 32 and 36 degrees Celsius (89.6°F to 96.8°F) and achieves an impressive walking posture accuracy of 92 percent. These features have sparked varying reactions from users, with some fascinated by its realism, while others express discomfort, aligning with the phenomenon known as the "uncanny valley."
Despite the excitement surrounding its launch, details about Moya's technological foundation remain limited. Reports suggest it may be built on a "Walker 3" chassis, a term often linked to another company, UBTECH, though no official ties have been confirmed. Moya's modular design allows for customization of its appearance, enhancing its appeal in the evolving landscape of humanoid robotics.
