Yesterday, Google launched an experimental application called COSMO for Android devices, which was subsequently removed from the Play Store due to an accidental release. The app, associated with Google Research, was intended to leverage artificial intelligence to assist users in various tasks such as organizing schedules and answering complex inquiries.
With a file size of 1.13 GB, COSMO incorporates a local Gemini Nano model and requests multiple system permissions upon installation. Users encounter a basic chat interface that highlights its experimental status. The application features several capabilities, including a List Tracker for suggesting lists, a Document Writer for creating documents, and a Calendar Event Suggester for scheduling plans.
Additionally, COSMO offers functionality such as a Browser Agent for task automation, deep research capabilities, and quick photo lookups. It also provides definitions for complex jargon and context about people and events.
