Amazon Web Services (AWS) has publicly challenged a Financial Times article concerning outages attributed to its AI coding tools. The tech company responded on Friday, clarifying that a December service disruption was due to user error related to access controls, rather than an issue with its AI technology.
The Financial Times had reported that AWS experienced a significant 13-hour outage when engineers allowed the Kiro AI tool to autonomously modify the environment. AWS refuted claims of a second incident that was said to have affected its services, stating that it was inaccurately characterized by the Financial Times.
According to AWS, the company received no customer complaints regarding the disruption, emphasizing that the term "impacted AWS" is subject to interpretation. The blog post titled "Correcting the Financial Times report about AWS, Kiro, and AI" sought to clarify these points and alleviate concerns about the reliability of its AI tools.
