Apple Inc. is revising its strategy regarding an AI health coach initiative, which has faced delays and challenges in becoming a monetized service. The project, known internally as Health+, was initially intended to offer AI-driven health reports and recommendations but will now see some features integrated into the existing Health app instead of launching as a separate product.
According to a report by Bloomberg on February 5, the company has scaled back its plans after leadership changes in its health division, with Eddy Cue now overseeing the area following Jeff Williams' retirement. Cue has emphasized the need for faster progress, especially in light of competition from companies like Oura and Whoop.
Features initially planned for the health coach could still debut within the Health app this year, including suggestions based on existing data and a new tool utilizing an iPhone camera to assess walking patterns. Apple is also developing an AI chatbot for health inquiries and is enhancing its Fitness+ service, which costs $9.99 monthly. The revised timeline has pushed the coach's expected rollout from iOS 26 to iOS 27, set for September.
