Apple will allocate up to $95 for eligible iPhone buyers as part of a settlement related to a lawsuit about misleading advertising of artificial intelligence (AI) features. The total payout for this agreement reaches $250 million, aimed at resolving claims from a class action filed last year in California federal court.
The lawsuit alleged that the company falsely advertised its AI offerings, branded as Apple Intelligence, which included enhancements to the Siri voice assistant. Although Apple has denied any wrongdoing, the settlement will compensate U.S. customers who purchased the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 between June 2024 and March 2025.
An Apple spokesperson noted that the lawsuit focused on the availability of a couple of features among many introduced with Apple Intelligence, emphasizing that the company aims to concentrate on delivering innovative products. The legal representatives argued that Apple's promotions misrepresented AI capabilities that were not available at launch and criticized the marketing tactics as an attempt to compete with emerging tech firms.
