In a significant legal development, Apple has reached a settlement of $250 million to resolve a class action lawsuit stemming from the delayed launch of its AI-enhanced Siri. This agreement comes after claims that the company misrepresented the availability of Siri, which was promised to launch alongside Apple Intelligence in 2024 but has yet to materialize nearly two years later.
The lawsuit encompasses US buyers of the iPhone 16 series and the iPhone 15 Pro, providing financial compensation to those who anticipated the updated Siri feature. Notably, the settlement does not require Apple to admit any wrongdoing regarding its advertising of AI capabilities. Following the announcement of a delay in March 2025, Apple retracted prior promotional materials that highlighted the new Siri functionalities.
Looking ahead, Apple aims to release the revamped Siri later this year, aided by a collaboration with Google that allows the integration of its Gemini models. This new version of Siri, alongside additional AI features, is expected to be part of the upcoming iOS 27.
