The newly launched Ryzen AI Halo mini PC from AMD aims to provide an affordable alternative for AI development, starting at $3,999 for the Max+ 395 model. Built around a Ryzen AI Max CPU, this system incorporates up to 16 Zen 5 CPU cores and a 40-core integrated GPU, facilitating the local execution of substantial AI models. Its compact dimensions of 5.9 inches by 5.9 inches allow for significant memory capacity, supporting up to 128GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD.
For those requiring more memory, the Max+ Pro 495 variant offers support for up to 192GB of RAM, although it shares similar core and GPU specifications with the Max+ 395. AMD claims performance advantages over Nvidia's DGX Spark, reporting up to a 14 percent increase in processing efficiency for certain models.
The Ryzen AI Halo supports both Windows and Linux operating systems, providing flexibility for developers. It also comes preloaded with applications and models, including GPT-OSS and SDXL, along with a centralized hub for software management. Pre-orders for the Ryzen AI Halo are set to begin in June.
