AdventureTripr, a travel marketplace founded by Preeti Suri, offers over 500 trips across 50 countries, having achieved profitability shortly after its launch just prior to the 2020 pandemic. Suri, who transitioned from a demanding career as an investment banker, sought to create a platform that makes outdoor adventures accessible to a broader audience, particularly aiming to include people of color and first-time hikers.
After experiencing personal challenges, including postpartum depression, Suri turned to hiking as a therapeutic outlet, which ultimately fueled her desire to help others experience the transformative power of the outdoors. This journey led her to climb significant peaks in Washington, reinforcing her commitment to making nature more approachable.
Recognizing that traditional multi-day trips can reach upwards of $7,000 per person, Suri identified an opportunity to reduce costs by collaborating directly with local guides. Her company employs a technology-driven approach to travel curation, allowing it to stand out in a competitive market while promoting inclusivity in outdoor activities.
