In 2025, Seattle's startups attracted nearly $2 billion in venture capital, maintaining the sixth position in Carta's annual rankings of U.S. cities. This amount represents approximately 2.9% of the total capital monitored by Carta, a financial tech firm that assists startups in managing their capitalization tables.
Last year, Seattle also secured the sixth spot with $2.1 billion raised. The Bay Area dominated the landscape, capturing nearly 39% of total capital in 2025, while New York, Los Angeles, Boston, and Austin followed in the rankings.
Within specific sectors, Seattle performed notably well, ranking fourth in software-as-a-service. The city also placed in the top spots for categories including AI, hardware, and fintech. Significant funding rounds included $650 million for TerraPower and $510 million for Stoke Space, among others.
