Robbie Cape has officially announced the launch of a new startup named The Instrument, aimed at transforming the insurance industry. Cape, who previously served as CEO at telehealth company 98point6, shared the news on LinkedIn, stating that this venture is supported by Pioneer Square Labs.
Following a nine-month job search that almost led him to a healthcare position in Utah, Cape decided to focus on the insurance sector. He cited three main reasons for this choice: the involvement of PSL partner Greg Gottesman, the inherent complexity of the insurance industry, and the financial opportunities it presents. Cape expressed his intrigue with the potential for wealth creation in this trillion-dollar industry.
The startup, which incorporated in March of this year, includes co-founders T Van Doren as CTO and Matt Witcher as chief product officer. Cape highlighted that Van Doren and Witcher were among the first employees at 98point6. While specific details about The Instrument remain scarce, the company’s domain, theinstrument.ai, suggests an innovative, AI-centered approach to insurance.
