Cove, a startup focused on enhancing collaboration through AI technologies, will cease its product operations by April 1. The Silicon Valley company has announced its team will integrate into Microsoft, although the terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.
The firm, which launched in 2023, previously raised $6 million in seed funding led by Sequoia Capital. Its software transformed traditional chat interactions with AI into a more visual workspace, allowing users to build custom AI applications.
Co-founders Stephen Chau, Mike Chu, and Andy Szybalski, who worked together at Google Maps, bring significant experience to Microsoft. Chau, formerly head of product at Uber Eats, expressed enthusiasm for continuing their mission at Microsoft, where they aim to expand their vision further.
This acquisition aligns with Microsoft’s strategy to enhance the adoption of its Copilot assistant, which has yet to achieve widespread use despite significant investments in artificial intelligence. Recent developments include the introduction of Copilot Cowork, an AI assistant designed to streamline tasks across Microsoft 365 applications.
