Sniffies, a platform catering to gay and bisexual men, secured a substantial investment of $100 million from Match Group, marking its first funding round. This investment grants Match a notable minority stake and the potential for full acquisition in the future.
Founded by Blake Gallagher over eight years ago, Sniffies has gained traction, boasting around 3 million active users monthly and facilitating over 20 million messages exchanged each day. The company operates independently and remains profitable under Gallagher's leadership.
Match Group, which owns popular dating apps like Tinder and Hinge, plans to discontinue its existing app for queer men, Archer, as part of this new strategy. CEO Spencer Rascoff emphasized the growing demand in the LGBTQ+ dating space, highlighting Sniffies' unique approach to connecting its users.
In a recent LinkedIn post, Gallagher expressed that the investment will enhance the platform's focus on trust and safety, product improvements, and expanding its network. With a team of 65 employees, Sniffies aims to further establish itself in the marketplace while fostering an inclusive community.
