Seattle-based startup CopilotKit has successfully secured $27 million in funding to enhance its technology that enables AI agents to operate within existing software applications. The announcement, made on Tuesday, includes $20 million in Series A financing alongside $7 million from an earlier seed round. This investment was led by Glilot Capital, NFX, and SignalFire.
Founded in 2023 by brothers Atai and Uli Barkai, CopilotKit is known for its innovation, particularly the development of AG-UI, an open standard that facilitates communication between AI agents and software. Over half of the Fortune 500 companies, including major players like Google and Microsoft, utilize this technology, primarily through both an open-source project and the enterprise product, CopilotKit Enterprise Intelligence.
With a team of around 20 employees, the startup aims to use the new capital to further expand its local workforce. The company’s core tools have gained significant traction, boasting over 40,000 GitHub stars and millions of weekly installations. Notable enterprise clients include Deutsche Telekom, Docusign, and Cisco.
