Seattle-based startup Codified is ceasing operations, as confirmed by its founder and former CEO Yatharth Gupta. Gupta, who recently transitioned to a director of product management role at Google in Kirkland, Washington, did not elaborate on the reasons for the shutdown.
Founded in 2023 and incubated at Madrona Venture Labs, Codified secured a $4 million seed funding round in February 2024, featuring investments from notable backers including Madrona Venture Group, Vine Ventures, and former Snowflake CEO Bob Muglia. The company aimed to enhance data governance using generative AI, allowing users to establish data access rules through straightforward policy writing.
Gupta, who previously dedicated over 14 years to Microsoft focusing on Azure management, also led product management at SingleStore before founding Codified. Other key figures in the startup included Stefan Batres, who has moved to Atlan, and Karan Thakker, who returned to ExtraHop after his time at Codified.
