The company Simile has recently secured $100 million in funding from Index Ventures as it aims to innovate public opinion polling through artificial intelligence. This venture seeks to create AI agents that simulate human behavior, allowing for extensive market research based on these “digital twins.”
Co-founder and CEO Joon Park explained that the AI is trained on real interactions, enabling the agents to act as realistic representations of individuals. The technology allows clients to pose unlimited inquiries to these AI counterparts, potentially transforming how market insights are gathered.
Simile's approach draws inspiration from the well-known video game The Sims, which simulates daily life. A recent research paper co-authored by Park outlines a project utilizing generative agents to foster interactions in a simulated environment. This innovative method indicates a shift in how consumer behavior might be analyzed in the future.
