Many users have noticed the absence of the dislike button in YouTube Shorts, as Google tests modifications to the platform's dislike feature. This trial includes alterations to both the button's location and its terminology, aiming to improve user engagement with content. Currently, some users can find the dislike option hidden within an overflow menu, which is accessed through a triple-dot icon in the upper corner, while the thumbs-up remains prominently displayed.
Additionally, variations in wording are being experimented with. Users may see "Dislike" next to "Not interested," while others have these labels merged, presenting "Not interested" alongside the thumbs-down icon. Google believes that these changes could help refine individual viewing preferences, as many viewers use these terms interchangeably.
Participants of this experiment can expect to receive optional surveys regarding their experiences once they interact with the modified options. Feedback can also be submitted directly within the YouTube app, allowing users to express their thoughts on the new setups.
