This morning, the Google homepage features the remarkable artwork of Kameirah Johnson, an 18-year-old senior from Renton, Wash., who has been announced as the winner of the 2026 Doodle for Google contest. Her piece, titled “Hair Power: The Crown That Grows from Us,” won out over tens of thousands of entries from K-12 students nationwide.
The theme for this year's contest was “My superpower is …,” and Kameirah’s artwork celebrates hair as an emblem of identity and strength. During her appearance on “TODAY” in New York, she expressed her excitement about sharing her work with a global audience. The artwork features three figures inspired by Kameirah, her mother Simone, and her sister Kalieyah, depicted lying in the grass with their hair styled as crowns.
Kameirah, who has been inspired by her mother’s teachings about embracing her cultural identity, plans to attend NYU in the fall to study economics and studio arts. Along with the title, she receives a college scholarship of $55,000 and a technology package worth $50,000 for her school. The Doodle for Google contest, now in its 17th year, has previously recognized winners from the Seattle area.
