Star City, a new spin-off of the series For All Mankind, is set to launch on May 29 with two episodes available at midnight PT. This new show offers a unique perspective on the Space Race, focusing on the Soviet Union's achievements, contrasting the American-centric narrative of its predecessor.
Headlining the cast is Rhys Ifans, portraying the Chief Designer pivotal to the success of the Soviet space program. Other notable actors include Anna Maxwell Martin as Lyudmilla Raskova and Agnes O’Casey as Irina Morozova, among others.
While the current season of For All Mankind features a storyline set in the 2010s with approximately 5,000 humans residing on Mars, Star City revisits the late 1960s, beginning with a Soviet cosmonaut's historic moon landing in 1969. The series promises a blend of thriller elements with its depiction of the Soviet space program's challenges and triumphs.
New episodes of Star City will be released weekly on Fridays until July 10, and while For All Mankind has been confirmed for a sixth season, the future of Star City remains uncertain.
