The literary world is celebrating the release of “The Curve of the World,” a novel by the late Vonda N. McIntyre, which explores themes of adventure in the Bronze Age. This book, completed shortly before her death in 2019, showcases the journeys of Minoan seafarers, a topic that has garnered attention for its imaginative storytelling.
Following McIntyre's passing, a dedicated team from Clarion West, a Seattle-based nonprofit she founded, worked meticulously to prepare the manuscript for publication. The novel has now officially launched, coinciding with a virtual party scheduled for Saturday.
Nisi Shawl, an acclaimed writer in the genre, expressed her excitement about the editing process, highlighting the joy found in McIntyre’s prose. The narrative complements the legendary Odyssey, which is being adapted into a film starring Matt Damon as Odysseus, creating a juxtaposition of hero and heroine journeys.
McIntyre was well-known for her contributions to popular franchises, including adaptations for Star Trek and an acclaimed novel, “The Moon and the Sun,” which was later adapted into a feature film. “The Curve of the World” promises to continue her legacy of blending history with rich storytelling.
