The Retroid Pocket 6 is set to begin shipping soon, following its official completion after initial setbacks. The handheld gaming device will allow users to emulate games from platforms like Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 2, as showcased in recent gameplay videos released by Retroid.
Previously facing criticism for its design, Retroid responded by giving customers the option to choose between a D-pad or a thumbstick on the left side of the device. Despite these changes, the company encountered challenges with an ongoing memory shortage, leading to the cancellation of early bird pricing.
Initially priced at $209, the Retroid Pocket 6 will now retail for $229 after the discount was removed in late December. The device features a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, with configurations offering up to 12GB of memory and 256GB of storage that can be expanded via a TF card slot. The first batch of preorders is scheduled to ship in January, while additional preorders are expected to reach customers by March.
