Sony has officially ended the online multiplayer services for Destruction AllStars, a title that was part of the initial lineup for the PlayStation 5. The game, which debuted in February 2021 and was offered for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers, is now unavailable for purchase, and its servers have been permanently shut down.
Players who previously owned the game will still have access to the single-player modes until November 25, 2026. After this date, only solo arcade functionalities will remain, though they may face limitations due to the server closures. The decision to discontinue the game comes after a noticeable decline in its engagement and content updates over the past year, raising questions about its viability in a competitive market.
Despite the abrupt termination, there had been no prior announcements from Lucid Games or Sony regarding the game's future, a move that surprised many players. The shutdown reflects broader challenges facing games-as-a-service in retaining player interest amid a saturated gaming landscape.
