Nicolas Cage returns to the role of Spider-Man in the new television series Spider-Noir, which premieres on Prime Video on May 27 at 12 a.m. PT/3 a.m. ET. This adaptation features Cage as Ben Reilly, a private investigator navigating the challenges of 1930s New York after experiencing a personal tragedy. The character dons a black mask and fedora to become “The Spider,” tasked with solving a new case that compels him to embrace his alter ego once more.
Originally introduced in the Oscar-winning film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Cage's portrayal of Reilly is complemented by a cast including Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson and Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane. The show was developed by Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot, alongside the creative team behind the Spider-Verse franchise.
With both a black-and-white version and a "True-Hue" full-color option available, Spider-Noir aims to attract a broad audience, even those unfamiliar with Marvel's cinematic universe. Early reviews have been favorable, with a score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and praise for Cage's performance.
