Grave Seasons, the debut title from Perfect Garbage Studios, is set to release later this year under the banner of Blumhouse Games. The game combines cozy farming mechanics with a darker narrative involving a serial killer among the villagers. During a recent demo at PAX East, developers showcased the unique blend of murder and romance, revealing that players can engage in relationships with all villagers, including the potential killer.
The gameplay spans four seasons, each with 30 in-game days, structured similarly to the Persona series. Players will encounter significant events that gather the village, while also having the option to engage in criminal activities. The demo highlighted a character who escapes incarceration and uses a crowbar to investigate villagers' homes, emphasizing the game's focus on both farming and crime.
As players experiment with the game mechanics, feedback has indicated a willingness to embrace the more morally ambiguous aspects of gameplay. Emmett Nahil, the narrative director, expressed excitement over players' readiness to explore the darker side of village life, suggesting that the game aims to offer a unique experience within the genre.
