The pricing structure of the Game Pass subscription service may soon see adjustments as new Xbox CEO Asha Sharma acknowledges its current costs are too high for consumers. In a recent memo to staff, Sharma highlighted the necessity for a revised value proposition for Game Pass, stating, "Short term, Game Pass has become too expensive for players."
Since the service experienced two price hikes within a 15-month period, many users have expressed concerns regarding the affordability of Game Pass. The upcoming April update will introduce titles such as Hades 2 and a new project from Double Fine, alongside notable releases like the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare remake.
Sharma mentioned that the long-term vision includes evolving Game Pass into a more flexible model, which will require testing and adaptation. While it's uncertain if this memo indicates a significant change for Xbox, the recognition of pricing issues represents a positive step after a series of perplexing decisions made by the company in recent years.
