The highly anticipated Avatar: The Last Airbender RPG has officially been halted, continuing a trend of disappointing releases within the franchise. This development was confirmed by Shawn Kittelsen, the senior vice president at Paramount Games Studio, who stated that the game was not in production at the studio's inception, which followed the merger of Paramount and Skydance’s gaming divisions.
Originally announced in late 2024, the RPG was touted as the largest video game in the franchise’s history, set to explore a time period thousands of years prior to the events in the animated series. Despite the setback, Kittelsen suggested the possibility of a future AAA title in the Avatar universe, albeit in a different form.
Meanwhile, interest is growing for another title, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, which has garnered attention from both fans and the fighting game community. Its release has been postponed to July 23 from a previous date of July 2, with new characters such as Azula and Kyoshi being introduced to the lineup.
