Fans of the Star Wars franchise can look forward to a new version of Rogue One, set to be released on May 25. This reimagined cut, titled Rogue One: The Andor Cut, is crafted by editor David Kaylor and aims to present the story from Cassian Andor's perspective, contrasting with the original film's focus on Jyn Erso.
Kaylor's adaptation will incorporate thematic elements and musical motifs from the Andor series, enhancing the tonal connection between the film and the show. Additionally, it will utilize fan-made deepfake technology to modify the film's controversial CG characters, Grand Moff Tarkin and Princess Leia, using renders from creator Shamook.
This project follows Kaylor's history of fan edits, including various remixes of the Original Trilogy and aligning Revenge of the Sith with scenes from Star Wars: The Clone Wars. As anticipation builds through trailers and clips shared over the past year, the new cut is expected to reignite discussions among fans regarding the narrative ownership of Rogue One.
