The film Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has achieved remarkable box-office success in 2025, solidifying its place in this year's award season. Directed by Haruo Sotozaki, the film showcases intense battles within the Infinity Castle, where protagonist Tanjiro Kamado and the Demon Slayer Corps confront formidable foes. This marks the beginning of a trilogy, with the first installment being screened in IMAX theaters.
In a recent interview, Sotozaki, along with Yuichi Terao and Hikaru Kondo from studio Ufotable, discussed the challenges faced in creating the film. They emphasized the importance of blending 2D and 3D elements seamlessly to enhance the cinematic experience. The studio collaborated closely between the 2D animators and the 3D team to ensure that the animation flowed naturally without any visual discrepancies.
Sotozaki noted that testing keyframes within their 3D environments was crucial to maintaining consistency across animations. Terao added that music played a vital role in motivating the animators during production, helping to capture the dynamic momentum of the film's action sequences.
