Google's new "advanced flow" for sideloading apps will be available on all Android phones later this year, addressing key concerns regarding third-party APK installations. The update aims to streamline the process for users while providing essential guidance through a newly released FAQ video featuring Matthew Forsythe, the company’s Chief Product Explainer.
One notable aspect of the advanced flow is its transferability to new devices. Users who enable this feature on their current Android device can seamlessly transition it to a new phone during the setup process. However, additional queries remain unresolved, such as the status of sideloading after a factory reset or when flashing new ROMs.
Forsythe clarified that ADB installs won’t be affected by the 24-hour waiting period, meaning there is no command available to bypass this restriction. Furthermore, apps will not be able to detect whether the advanced flow is enabled, as this change operates at the operating system level. Users must maintain this setting to update unverified applications effectively.
