Samsung's upcoming Galaxy S26 series is expected to include a new 24MP camera mode, although users will need to enable it manually via the Advanced resolution option in Camera Assistant. This feature is anticipated to enhance image quality, providing finer detail compared to the standard 12MP shots typical of previous models.
In contrast to the iPhone 15, which captures 24MP photos by default, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will not do so unless switched on by the user. Although it is currently possible to shoot 24MP images on the Galaxy S25 using the Expert RAW app, leaks suggest that the stock camera app's implementation will be optimized for everyday use, offering a balance between detail and image size without the common drawbacks seen in Expert RAW, such as over-sharpening.
Expected to launch in early March 2024, the Galaxy S26 lineup may not support 24MP photography across all rear cameras, and it remains uncertain if the feature will be available under low-light conditions. Despite utilizing similar hardware to the Galaxy S25, the 24MP mode will not be introduced in the Galaxy S25 series.
