The redesigned Pixel Now Playing app by Google is now available on the Play Store, featuring a fresh three-tab layout that enhances user experience. It introduces a Material 3 Expressive floating toolbar, moving away from the outdated design of the previous interface powered by Android System Intelligence.
Users can tap to discover currently playing music, and a floating action button facilitates additional song searches. The app includes a reverse-chronological history for easy navigation and allows for curation of results. Key functionalities include sharing, adding to favorites, and integration with music services like YouTube Music.
The final tab, Favorites, maintains its previous features, while a lockscreen shortcut provides quick access to results. Enhancements also extend to the Quick Settings Tile, which displays the last music match. This update brings a new app icon that aligns with the modern Pixel blue aesthetic, prompting users to check for updates in the Play Store.
