Qualcomm has introduced its latest mid-range chipsets, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5, aimed at reducing lag and enhancing performance in upcoming smartphones. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 features a 4+4 core configuration, with four performance cores operating at up to 2.6GHz, while the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 uses a 2+6 core setup with performance cores reaching up to 2.4GHz.
Both chips support FHD+ displays at refresh rates of up to 144Hz and offer advanced camera capabilities, with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 accommodating up to 108MP and the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 supporting up to 200MP. Notably, the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 boasts a 77% increase in GPU performance compared to its predecessor, while the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5's GPU is 21% more powerful.
Devices featuring these chipsets will debut from brands like Honor, Redmi, Oppo, and Realme. Both chipsets include the new “Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI,” which aims to ensure smoother navigation, with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 showing 20% faster app launches and 18% less screen stutter, while the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 sees improvements of 43% and 25%, respectively.
