The US smartphone market experienced a decline of approximately 3% year-over-year, according to data from Omdia. Apple maintained a commanding 60% market share, shipping 19.9 million units, which marked a decrease of 3% from the previous year. Samsung's shipments also fell, dropping by 5% to 7.9 million, representing 24% of the market, despite the popularity of its Galaxy S26 series.
In contrast, Motorola was the only brand in the top five to see growth, with a significant 18% increase in shipments, rising from 3 million in Q1 2025 to 3.6 million in Q1 2026. This growth was attributed to the success of the Moto G series devices, which accounted for 70% of the quarter's shipments.
Meanwhile, Google Pixel held onto its fourth position in the market but faced a 7% shipment decline, with around 800,000 devices shipped in Q1 2026, down from 900,000 a year prior. The Pixel series, including the recently launched Pixel 10a, struggled to replicate the success of its predecessor, the Pixel 9 lineup. Despite aggressive carrier promotions and a positive global outlook, the decline in the US market raises concerns, particularly as demand for premium devices remains stagnant.
