The transition from Google Duo to Google Meet is now complete, marking the end of Duo as a standalone video calling service. Originally scheduled to conclude in September 2025, the deprecation was pushed to January 2026 but has been finalized ahead of schedule.
As part of this shift, several legacy features associated with Google Duo, including Knock Knock, Family, and Mirror mode, have been removed from the Meet application. Users have also noticed the disappearance of legacy call history and related settings. Notably, a prominent notification regarding this change was recently removed from the Meet homepage.
New functionalities within Google Meet now offer features such as live captions, screen sharing, and in-call chat. Privacy settings have been adjusted to ensure users can control who can reach them through email. Outgoing group calls from Nest speakers and displays remain unsupported, although incoming group calls are permissible on Nest displays.
