The flight simulator feature in Google Earth has officially launched for web browsers, expanding access to this entertainment tool that has been available on the desktop version since 2007. This new addition is part of a broader initiative by Google to enhance the web interface with professional-grade functionalities, including elevation profiles and various data layers.
To begin using the flight simulator, users can navigate to the Google Earth website and select the “Explore Earth” option. By entering a desired location in the search bar, players can engage with the simulator found under the “Tools” menu. Control options include the mouse or arrow keys for maneuvering, while thrust adjustments are made using the Page Up and Page Down keys. The game concludes if the aircraft crashes, but players are encouraged to retry without limitations.
Although the simulator lacks the complexity of dedicated flight simulation games like Microsoft Flight Simulator, it offers players the opportunity to explore the extensive Google Earth database, allowing flights over iconic landmarks and diverse locations worldwide.
