In a major update, Google has enhanced the functionality of its Google Clock app with new customization features. Users can now choose their preferred method for dismissing alarms, opting between a swipe gesture or a large, pill-shaped button.
Reports indicate that this change is part of the app's transition to the Material 3 Expressive design. Specifically, the new settings allow users to swipe left to snooze and right to dismiss an alarm, adding a layer of protection against accidental dismissals. This feature is linked to Google Clock v8.5 but may require a server-side rollout, meaning some users might not see it immediately.
Additionally, the alarm volume slider has been redesigned, featuring a thicker bar that aligns with the updated design guidelines. Users can adjust the volume in increments from 1.00 to 7.00, enhancing user control over alarm settings. This volume adjustment feature is already available without the need for a server-side update.
