Google is implementing a new floating pill design for its Gemini Live feature on Android, enhancing user interaction since its initial launch. This redesign is currently available for beta users of the Google app version 17.7, with a broader rollout having commenced in the last day.
The updated interface allows users to easily access tools for sharing their camera or screen, muting the microphone, and ending the Live session. Users can interact with this floating pill in two ways: by activating the Gemini overlay and tapping the Live icon, or by launching the fullscreen Gemini Live UI and then returning to the home screen.
Additionally, the pill features an adaptable design that collapses into a smaller circle when users navigate to other apps, mimicking the functionality of a chathead. This floating element not only maintains the option to revert to the fullscreen interface but also offers a seamless experience for video sharing.
As of now, the redesign has been observed on limited devices alongside the stable version 17.3 of the Google app, indicating a potential significant update for Gemini Live on the horizon.
