Garmin has revealed that its Connect Plus app will now include direct tracking of nutrition metrics such as calories, protein, fat, and carbohydrates, removing the need for users to rely on MyFitnessPal for these features. This update was announced at CES 2026, where the company emphasized the app's comprehensive capabilities.
Users can obtain nutritional information through various methods, including searching a global database, scanning barcodes, or using AI-powered image recognition via their smartphone cameras. This new functionality aims to enhance user experience by providing daily, weekly, monthly, and annual nutrition reports tailored to individual activity levels, height, weight, and gender.
The Garmin Connect Plus app costs $7 per month or $70 per year, with a 30-day free trial for new customers and a 14-day free trial for those who have previously used the app. For those with compatible Garmin smartwatches, an overview of their nutrition data will be accessible directly on the device.
