The upcoming ROG Xreal R1 glasses, developed in collaboration with Asus, are set to launch in June, featuring a groundbreaking 240Hz refresh rate micro-OLED display. This refresh rate surpasses the standard 120Hz found in most competing models. While the R1 glasses are priced higher, they come with a special console-switching dock that enhances their functionality, allowing users to switch between a PC and multiple game consoles seamlessly.
In terms of specifications, the ROG Xreal R1 boasts dimensions of 1,920 by 1,080 resolution and can reach a brightness of up to 700 nits. However, they fall short compared to the Viture Beast display glasses, which offer a higher resolution and are less expensive at $549. The ROG Xreal R1 is priced at $849, factoring in the cost of the dock, which is $250.
These new glasses also include features such as Bose-powered sound and the ability to pin virtual monitors in place during movement. Despite their advanced capabilities, some users may wish for better resolution or a wider field of view, currently limited to 57 degrees. Looking ahead, Xreal plans to release the Project Aura, promising a wider field of view of 70 degrees, although pricing details are yet to be disclosed.
