Apple's upcoming update for Siri is expected to significantly alter the iPhone interface, emphasizing a new design that showcases the Gemini-powered AI assistant. Following a $250 million settlement and nearly two years of development, the tech giant aims to unveil these changes at WWDC 2026.
Illustrations from Bloomberg reveal that Siri will be integrated into the iPhone's dynamic island, allowing users to interact with the assistant via voice commands or the power button. Additionally, a new "Search or Ask" interface will be accessible by swiping down from the top center of the device, featuring Siri Suggestions alongside other functionalities.
This redesigned interface will enable users to launch applications, compose messages, and manage calendar events seamlessly. There are plans for a dedicated Siri app that would compete against other AI services like ChatGPT and Claude, offering text and voice conversations, as well as support for photo and document uploads. Enhanced integration with the Camera and Photos apps is also on the agenda.
Apple's revisions aim to provide a more comprehensive experience, with the potential availability of third-party AI services through the new Siri interface, which could be released by September.
