In 2025, Apple's iPhone shipments in India are projected to reach approximately 14 million units, contributing to a record market share of 9% in the country. This represents an increase from 7% the previous year, despite the overall smartphone market in India remaining steady at around 152-153 million devices. The growth in iPhone sales is attributed to a diverse product lineup, increasing demand, and improved distribution channels, according to Tarun Pathak from Counterpoint Research.
Apple's commitment to India has been evident, with CEO Tim Cook highlighting an "all-time revenue record" during the company's last earnings call in October. Additionally, the iPhone's active install base reached a historic high, with significant quarterly upgrades noted, although specific figures were not provided. The company has also enhanced its local presence by expanding manufacturing and retail operations, including the recent opening of its fifth Apple Store in Noida.
To further engage Indian consumers, Apple launched the Apple Creator Studio, a subscription service for creative applications priced at ₹399 a month, which is substantially lower than its U.S. pricing. However, the overall smartphone market in India is projected to experience minimal growth, with estimates indicating a decline of 8-10% year-over-year in the final quarter of 2025, influenced by longer replacement cycles and a shift towards refurbished devices.
