Users of Apple’s AirPort Utility will soon find the app unavailable for new downloads from the App Store. This decision follows the recent release of iOS 27 developer beta 2 and its counterparts, which also brought updates for iPadOS 27 and macOS 27. As confirmed in the release notes, while existing users can still re-download the app, its functionality on iOS 27 and later versions is not assured.
Additionally, macOS 27 will not include AirPort Utility in new installations. However, users with the app already installed will retain it post-update, though operational reliability will not be guaranteed moving forward. Apple has not specified a removal date for the app but has indicated that further announcements may come as the App Store transition approaches.
This development arrives shortly after reports indicated that the new macOS would discontinue support for file-sharing protocols used by the obsolete Time Capsule, impacting its role as a Time Machine backup option. A workaround has been released by a Microsoft engineer to restore compatibility for users affected by these changes.
