Apple's anticipated smart glasses are now expected to debut in late 2027 due to unspecified development challenges, according to a report from Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Initially, an unveiling was anticipated for late 2026 with a subsequent launch the following year.
The smart glasses are considered crucial to Apple's future product lineup and are projected to compete directly with the Meta Ray-Bans. Key features are expected to include cameras for photography and videography, as well as microphones and speakers for calls and music. Additionally, AI integration and health-related functionalities may serve as significant selling points.
In terms of design, Apple is exploring four distinct variants, including both larger and slimmer rectangular frames, alongside two oval designs. Color options under consideration include light brown, ocean blue, and black. Pricing details remain vague, with estimates ranging from $200 to $500 in the U.S.
Furthermore, a more affordable version of the company's Vision Pro mixed reality headset is not expected until 2028 or 2029, as per Gurman's insights.
