More than 60 percent of Apple Watch users increased their daily exercise minutes by over 10 percent in January compared to their December averages, according to new data from Apple. This statistic comes from the Apple Heart and Movement Study, which involved around 100,000 participants over four years. Notably, many users successfully maintained their elevated activity levels beyond Quitter’s Day, which typically sees a drop in New Year’s fitness resolutions.
Nearly 80 percent of those who boosted their exercise in January continued to do so through the month, with 90 percent of this group sustaining their increased activity into February and March. Apple attributes this trend to the motivational effects of the Apple Watch.
This month, Apple Fitness+ will introduce new multi-week programs aimed at enhancing users' consistency in their fitness routines. Additionally, Apple is organizing its annual “Ring in the New Year” challenge from January 7 to 31, rewarding users who close all three Activity rings for seven consecutive days. Strava users with Apple Watches can also participate in the “Quit Quitting” challenge throughout January.
