Demand for the MacBook Neo has surpassed expectations, prompting Apple to increase its production significantly. Initially targeting 5 million units for 2026, estimates now indicate that shipments could reach 10 million after the laptop's launch in March. Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, highlighted the overwhelming customer enthusiasm during an earnings call in late April, noting that it contributed to a record number of first-time Mac buyers.
Market research firm IDC corroborated Apple's positive sales data, indicating the MacBook Neo's strong market performance has attracted attention from competitors. In response, Dell has launched a redesigned XPS 13 laptop, starting at $699, promoting features that differentiate it from the MacBook Neo.
The MacBook Neo is priced at $599 for general consumers and $499 for college students, making it Apple's most affordable offering to date. The laptop is powered by the A18 Pro chip and comes in various colors. Looking ahead, a second-generation model with an A19 Pro chip and enhanced specifications is anticipated for release next year.
