The AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE has been introduced globally, providing a more budget-friendly option for gamers amid rising hardware prices. Initially launching in China, this graphics card is priced at $549, making it more accessible than last year's RX 9070, which is now over $600.
While it delivers reliable performance for 1440p gaming with support for ray tracing, it is important to note that the RX 9070 GRE is significantly less powerful than its predecessor. The card features 12GB of VRAM, eight fewer compute units, and slower speeds compared to the RX 9070, which has 16GB of memory. However, the boost speed of the GRE can reach 2.79GHz, higher than the RX 9070's 2.52GHz.
Initial benchmarks show the RX 9070 GRE's performance closely matches the RX 9070, with scores of 10,718 in 3DMark TimeSpy and 55 fps in Cyberpunk at 4K with ray tracing. Although promising, potential buyers may consider waiting for further price stability in the hardware market before making a purchase.
