AMD has announced the introduction of the new Ryzen AI Max+ 392 and Ryzen AI Max+ 388 processors at CES 2026, expanding its lineup of compact, powerful PC options. These additions aim to enhance performance while maintaining efficiency, but they will not surpass the existing Ryzen AI Max+ 395 in terms of capabilities.
Both new models feature a dedicated NPU (Neural Processing Unit) that supports local AI workloads with a processing capability of "up to" 50 TOPS. This enhancement allows for advanced PC features like real-time subtitles and camera effects, benefiting applications such as Adobe Photoshop and DaVinci Resolve Studio by offloading tasks from the CPU and GPU.
Current systems like the Framework Desktop and various HP Z2 Mini workstations utilize the existing Ryzen AI Max series. The new chips are designed to support up to 128GB of unified memory, although pricing and availability details remain unclear. Users can expect to see these processors in PCs starting in the first quarter of the year.
