Ripple has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining preliminary approval for a crypto asset service provider (CASP) license in Luxembourg. This approval, granted just ahead of the July 1 implementation deadline for the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), allows Ripple to extend its services across all 30 countries in the European Economic Area (EEA) with a single regulatory passport.
The preliminary license complements Ripple's existing Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license, which was issued earlier in February 2026, enabling the company to conduct regulated cross-border payments and electronic money services across the EEA. Ripple stated that once the CASP license is finalized, it will facilitate a comprehensive infrastructure for crypto asset and stablecoin payments through a single integration.
As the MiCA framework begins to take effect, Ripple's approval signifies a critical development in Europe's regulatory landscape for the crypto industry. Other companies, including major exchanges like Binance, are still seeking authorization under the new regulations, highlighting the competitive race for compliance before the July deadline.
