Over 200 crypto organizations are pressing the US Senate to expedite a vote on the CLARITY Act, highlighting fears that delays might cause it to miss a crucial legislative opportunity. The letter, shared by the crypto advocacy group Stand With Crypto, was directed to both Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, urging immediate action to bring the bill to the Senate floor.
The legislation aims to establish regulatory guidelines for the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission regarding cryptocurrency oversight. Despite the Senate Banking Committee's prior approval, discussions have stalled due to disagreements over key provisions, including a proposed ban on stablecoin yield platforms.
In their letter, the organizations emphasized that the passage of the bill could secure jobs and investment in the US, positioning the country as a leader in digital asset innovation. They warned that the future of digital asset markets may shift to less regulated jurisdictions if the US fails to act.
